Determined Murang’a Seal Appoint Yusuf Chipo As New Head Coach

Former Harambee Stars assistant coach Yusuf Chippo is determined to keep Murang’a Seal in the Kenya Premier League since taking over as head coach on Tuesday.

Chippo replaces John Njogu after Seals went down 3-0 to Shabana FC at the Gusii Stadium last weekend, and will be deputized by Don Otieno as his assistant coach.

The new coach is also remembered for leading Ulinzi Stars to three consecutive KPL titles between 2003 and 2005.

The defeat leaves Seals in an agonizing 16th place with 24 points, and only nine games left in the 2024/25 KPL season.

“I am very grateful for the opportunity I have been given, and I do realize how it’s a huge task.

“I am ready and eager to work with the entire staff and the players to ensure that we will retain our top-flight status at the end of the season,” the former Ulinzi Stars boss stated on Tuesday afternoon.

Murang’a Seals, who had a noteworthy debut season in the KPL, have had a difficult second half of the season but have made a change to bolster their hopes.

Chippo brings with him a wealth of experience, including a stint as Harambee Stars assistant coach between 2008 and 2011.

“No duty is impossible, and everything we set our sights on, we can achieve. We just need to put in the work.

“Seals is a good outfit and I am confident we can turn things around and give the fans what they are all hoping for,” Chippo concluded.

Murang’a Seals will host Bidco United in their next KPL fixture this Sunday, April 6, at the SportPesa Arena in Muranga at 3pm.

Bidco, who are a point below Seals on the log in 17th place, will have a point to prove having never beaten their hosts in the top flight.

It could be the breath of fresh air is just what the Mighty Seals needed to rejuvenate their squad into turning their fortunes around.
